Vajrasattva with consort
is the subject of this thangka painting.
Vajrasattva, known in Tibetan as Dorje
Sempa, is primordially free, pure Buddha
wisdom personified. Dorje Sempa holds a very
significant place in Tibetan Buddhism. This
is due in large part to the fact that the
ngondro, or preliminary practices focused on
him are of primary importance, and with
minor variations, they're common to all the
major schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
This a beautiful thangka,
painted with full adherence to the concise
traditional iconographic specifications. It
is mounted, as is also traditional, in a
nice brocade frame. The central figures of
Dorje Sempa and consort seated on a lotus
and moon disc are surrounded by simple and
well executed pure land landscape. This is a very
good quality painting and most affordable as
well. It is perfectly suited to the
visualization needs of the practitioner as
well as those who simply like Tibetan
Buddhist art.
