Ganesh
Reclining
This is a charming depiction in bronze of
Ganesh; the elephant headed Hindu deity. Ganesh
is the remover of obstacles, and can bestow good
fortune. In India, traditionally no important
undertaking is begun with out first invoking him
to insure success.
Here Ganesh is shown relaxing in a very regal
style, reading a book and leaning back against a
cushion. This very fine statue has beautiful
detailing, from his stylish crown to the
ornaments on his feet. The book he is reading
has the Sanskrit word "Om" on one page, and "Shri",
also in Sanskrit script, written on the other
page. This very unusual form is sure to please
any Ganesh lover.
