Silk Road Trading Concern
The
historical Silk Road was farther north than our Asian
base of operations in Kathmandu. There was however, a
southern route, which dipped down into what is today the
Indian State, Jammu-Kashmir. We chose to name ourselves
after this, the greatest of all trade routes, not so
much for the geographical similarities but rather in
emulation of the spirit of the Silk Road. Our historical
namesake was the premier means of exchange in the
ancient world - not just commercial exchange, but also
the exchange of spiritual and cultural ideas and values.
By the time the items offered here reach our clients in
western countries, they have made a very long journey.
From raw materials, to workshop, to you - we strive to
insure that the basis of this journey is integrity. The
Silk Road Trading Concern was founded upon the principle
that fair compensation for craftsperson, coupled with
environmentally conscientious production methods can be
successfully joined with reasonable prices and customer
service to create a satisfying exchange between all
parties involved.
Silk Road is pleased to present our "Trans-Himalayan
CollectionTM", in an on-line catalog. Here you will find
traditional and contemporary handicrafts from the
nations, which encompass the Himalayan mountain range.
If you are interested in particular products from India,
Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Tibet or Central Asian locations
which you don't see here please send us a special
request. We may be able to help you find the desired
item.
Silk Road has full time staff in Kathmandu, Nepal as
well as our office and distribution center in the United
States. We are committed to quick and thorough customer
satisfaction, and having staff members on both sides of
the world allows us to provide just that. Some Silk Road
